Foxton Inclined Plane Trust
FIPT is an independent Trust.
We would love to restore the Inclined Plane to its former glory, but at the moment this is not looking very likely. So what are we doing?
Using the latest in technology we have brought Foxton’s history alive. The first part of this is ‘Revealing the Treasures’ funded by an Arts Council grant with match funding from our partners. £190,000 is being spent on interpretation at Foxton, some of this money will build the first version of a digital model of the lift, some will provide new interpretation in the museum and on site.

When complete you will be able to use your mobile phone or tablet to view historic pictures of the site, just by pointing them at a marker.
We are also looking at various projects which will help preserve the Inclined Plane, and perhaps put back some of the missing structures. All of this may inspire someone to fund the restoration of the lift in the future.
The Trust has a long history of working with British Waterways and its charitable successor Canal and River Trust. We have also worked closely with Harborough District Council, Leicestershire County Council and Leicestershire Promotions. Waterway groups like The Inland Waterways Association, Waterway Recovery group and The Old Union Canals Society have lent their support.

As members of the Foxton Inclined Plane Trust you are helping to make a real difference at Foxton, particularly to the preservation and where possible restoration of the Inclined Plane Boat lift. You are also helping to support the Foxton Canal Museum.

We keep the membership fee deliberately low, and if you are able to add a donation it really will help.
