Work starts on Museum upgrade.

January 3, 2015

We have started to pack and move the museum’s collections ready to start the work of refurbishing the museum and making some wonderful improvements. Next week we will be removing the shelving from the stress upstairs in the museum. We won’t have this storage anymore; we are renting off site premises for the stores. By the middle of the month the work will start on removing the ceiling and demolishing the bulk of the mezzanine. Then the contractors will move in to redecorate and start installing the hi-tech additions which include a very big screen to show a new film all about the lift and Foxton.

Meanwhile we

are working on the layout of the new collections display, and putting the designs together for the more conventional displays.

Some of our collection is now on display around the Foxton Site, our big model of the locks and the lift is now in the top lock Stables, thanks to Garry at the Coffee stop. So please pop along and have a look, no entry fee but please purchase some refreshments from Garry as he has provided the space for free.
