Access and Safety

Posted by MGB 2009

The Trust continues to improve its facilities for those who need easy access.  The Museum is level throughout, and advice is taken on all new displays.  However, the lock sides have steep slopes. Wheelchair users will need strong assistance to access some parts of the site. Please ring to get directions to a special blue badge parking space closer to the Museum.

In 2008, the Foxton locks Partnership completed £3m worth of site improvements including the re-grading and resurfacing of paths making access easier and safer.

Foxton Locks is a very safe site if treated with respect. If visiting with small children please visit wow4water.com and play the safety games with them before visiting. Remember - be safe, stay away from the edge.

Please be aware that the locks contain deep water and most of them are unfenced. Extra care is needed with children and pets.  If in doubt, please call us on 0116  279 2657.
